Already a thread in non carp stuff attempting to do this. Just how far do you go? Are the materials not Chinese but the tools are? If so does it get written off the list? What if the design/CAD work was done on a MacBook?

As I said we can't avoid any Chinese involvement (materials) as they seem to have completely taken over the world but we can focus on not having the whole product made there...

Good luck selling them. I bet most tent raw materials don't exceed £50. Aluminium poles and fabric. £30 labour in a sweat shop compared with say £200+ here?. Major make up and rip off and they have just upped and upped the profit margins to a ridiculous levels such as a £600 tent that is probably useless after a couple of seasons!!!, yet, right
The Aqua / Cypri comparison is a prime example, half the price and that's from the same factory shipped around the world. Can't knock the Chinks for that can you, cutting out the middle man
So all these fishing companies who don't manufacture in the U.K. are nothing more than a badge importing mass produced cheap crap and selling it off for a premium ripping anglers off. They are a service provider, end of, pick up the phone, get me 3000 of these....
So when they are doing all this self promotion stuff what they should do is look at themselves these greedy ****s and realise they are not doing anything for the economy over here or the people buying their crap, I.e providing jobs. They are nothing more than sales and promotion teams. That's the reality. What they should do to be politically correct with their products is all wear red Chinese jumpers when promoting their gear. Rip off merchants of the highest level

Yep we can't avoid Chinese involvement. I bet all the bite alarm manufacturers have their PCBs done in China with final assembly in Europe.
For someone who's worked in the electronics design industry for nearly 30 years uk contract manufacturers are just not competitive when it comes to volume manufacture.
Apple make all their products at Foxconn who are one of the biggest in the world if you look on wiki in 2012 it was said they made 40% of all consumer electronics in the world - so what company wouldn't want to take advantage of that ?
Again for raw materials / textiles it will always be China
When we come out this what will be left is a deep global recession probably lasting into mid 2021 companies will continue to look to China to help them resurrect their businesses to build us their cash resources (to re employ etc) & survive.
Business is business.
What are we all going to do when our government signs the trade deal with China - boycott them ?
We have to get away from all the conspiracy theories & looking to blame someone and work as one to build a better world

China also own shares in Thames Water. Are you all going to stop your water supplies and dig a bore hole?
If you have a deep enough search - somehow it likes to get hidden away - the businesses both private and public that have Chinese investment is quite extensive. I believe China bought a load of government premium bonds at one point too.
What I'm seeing is that China have not privatised anything much and have kept it all government owned and are mega rich for it. Is there just sheer jealousy from those that support privatisation? Maybe if we didn't do it here we would be richer, as a government and as a country? Problem is China is a communist regime so they do naughty things. I guess the argument being used is “don't line the Chinese governments pocket to pay for their public services/naughtiness/lifestyle, instead line the pockets of private business owners instead, not sure who they are or if they are good people though”
It all smacks of jealousy - China are a financial powerhouse in the world. A leading global influence. It's not new. In my year 11 geography classes over a decade ago we learnt of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) economic group that were on course to overtake everyone as the 4 leading economic And industrial powers in the world. Basically the previous powers (USA & European countries) outsourced everything to those place and lined their pockets and made them richer than everyone else (exclude Russia from that) by exploiting the people If those emergent countries for their own greed. Britain had an empire, as did other countries. China are building one. Just because you think it's not right to have one doesn't stop them. I doubt anyone in the commonwealth was happy to be exploited and enslaved by the British Empire and their resources stolen (not even bought like China are doing).

There's the reason Uncle Trump gave Boris a shellacking for allowing Huawia into our 5G network. We're wedded atm to cheap Chinese goods and investment. Boris bottled it cause he didn't want to jeopardise this arrangement.

Not protecting...just exploring people's ideas and reasonings. Plenty of people have shown the numerous deeper reasons than a virus for a boycott. Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist when a statement against their opinion is put forward to make them think? This ‘terrible domination approach' was exactly what the British empire did but with violence not money not so long ago don't forget.
I've not once said it makes it right. But placing blame solely on that country is misguided isn't it? If we as a world never succumbed to cheap goods they wouldn't be where they are would they? Is it their fault for taking a business opportunity when they see one to make some money? Isn't that what any business does? Or should no businesses be allowed to see a gap and fill it?
