I'm not saying Chinese products shouldn't be boycotted, I'm just questioning peoples intentions and ideology around a boycott. The rationale seems to be because of a virus, not the reasons you have stated.
I'll stand by what I'm saying, the quickest way to have any effect is a global united bans on Chinese products AND exports to China, as boycotting items reduces demand too slowly to have any significant effect. A reduced demand for a tackle company, translates back to a Chinese manufacturer after maybe a 12 months, possibly longer before the tackle firm cottons on they are being boycotted because of the Chinese manufacturer and it actually starts costing them their business. If it isn't everyone then they don't see significant enough loses to start looking elsewhere for manufacturers, the chances are it wont be Britain when they do, it'll be another Asian country that where a virus didn't originate from. The orders start drying up from the firm to the Chinese manufacturer and they see this by lower and lower order numbers all the time, so they start looking at other products to manufacture to fill the loss of earnings, when the orders completely dry up and the contract is dropped they are already diversified for another product. Do you not think that the Chinese have a brain or business acumen to see the need to diversify and not loose money, just the same as you expect a British retailer to do? Why would they act any different to a British business owner?

That's cause they're my reasons for choosing Chinese goods only as a last resort for several years. Put your own restrictions on what you buy rather than waiting for a gang to form.

I've, always tried to avoid buying Chinese gear, that's why I like Swedish stuff, Trangia,ex British army gear ,old original Solar stainless etc..
Then I looked close at my stuff

Thought all free spirit rods except S class and hi 's' were made in Malaysia while the S class and hi 's' blanks were made in Japan and built in UK.
