No it doesn't I have reduced my gear down to bear minimum as I found that taking loads of gear there's to much to think about If you forget something like forgetting to take the meat or the gravy or even the fuel or even forgetting a knife it can ruin the trip I had three experience of this when I was talking a fair amount one trip forgot water another on day session forgot the chair had to stand all day and the worst was forgot the rods had to drive back to get them so having a dinner at lake is great if I wanted one I would cook at home and just warm it up at lake

Personal preference, day sessions are easy to do and eat well but personally I would never class a pot noodle or takeaway McDonald's as a meal. On long sessions eating well is important to me and cooking decent food on the bank is part of the whole experience of being there.

The cobb for me isn't just for fishing though and is used in good weather at home sitting in the sun or on the beach at the woods with my grandchildren.

Try a rib eye on the bone with a jacket spud, garlic mushrooms and fresh corn on the cob straight off the grill and you may change your mind while sitting there stuffing your face watching the sunset.

Love using my Cobb can't beat a nice roast on the bank. Or even chicken breasts and potato wedges.
Gives me something to do in the evening and look forward to good food. Don't care about the extra effort as I can always park behind my swim.

I don't remember saying about taking sandwiches I started carping nearly 40 years ago I am you could say an old timer great grandfather I seen a lot of things made a lot of mistakes I used to take the kitchen sink and relished there's no need I was mearly responding to people saying they cook roast dinners at lake then others saying you can have steak on cobb and other saying don't want to eat pot noodles or McDonald's I was saying no need you can have steak and good meals in ridge monkey I also said if people enjoy cooking at lake up to them someone said got to eat well at lake I said that I have had good meals cook at home warm up at lake I said also said for me for me I would be frightened of forgetting something got enough to remember tackle bait etc I am buying a cobb for garden so I will stick to subject I am interested in knowing what is best coals to use and using different wood to smoke the taste sounds very interesting

There are better options for home smoking, the advantage with the cobb is portability.
I only take my cadac fishing twice a year, I don't want the bulk generally. Nice to have the functionality on long/winter sessions tho

Thanks i think I have made a big mistake I bought a gas bbq for home used it and tbh the foods taste like it's been cooked in kitchen oven so that's why getting cobb unless someone can tell me a few things I can do on gas bbq to change it I have been thinking of getting a rotisserie to put on it to cook whole chicken on

I'm one of those that feels that the words 'gas' and 'bbq' do not belong together

If you want to try and make a little use of your outdoor oven / hob then maybe look to add some gas specific coals or toppings whatever they are.

Else, best bet is ditch the gas and get a proper coal bbq. If you're only going to use it at home, no real need for the Cobb, just get a lidded bbq and save a load of ££ to put towards decent coals and meat.

If you may like to take fishing / camping etc then get the Cobb, a roast chicken from these is lovely (as well as many other things)

Nope, don't agree at all. If you get a good gas bbq then you would be very hard pushed to tell the difference. Some foods taste better over charcoal and others better over a gas grill with flavoriser bars. Poor quality coal can have a huge effect but for good flavour you just want good quality ingredients. By the way I use both
