Blasphemy
Blasphemy
I've heard a few people had size 4 Muggas open up on them in the last couple of years. I used to use them in a 6 and they were granite, still have a few packs of the SSH version but I prefer a wider gape these days.
Maybe the shape with that angled bend doesn't suit the larger size vs the same wire gauge. I've always been suspicious of hooks that require a ‘continental' version anyway.

I wish I knew what it was!
Got a one toner and as it was heading straight for a large bed so I needed to give it some persuasion then the hook pulled. Wound it in and the gape of the hook had opened enough to come out of the carps mouth.
Had the same thing happen with ESP hooks in the past so only use Carp R Us now and never had a problem.

I had 3 size 6 in a row open up on me so never used them since, I think they are the perfect hook shape wise but just can't trust them, maybe was a dodgy packet because they seem to get rave reviews everywhere.

Hand sharpened wide gapes for me. Had a fantastic year using them and haven't dropped a fish since using wide gapes.

Yeah I used to use centurion 2000 hooks from them on a rugged lake. Good hooks 🙌🏼

Yeah that's not good. You have to pull pretty hard to bend one out so 3 in a row is a bit questionable to say the least. I'll continue to use them until I either suffer with an issue or fish a lake that requires nothing but the strongest and then I'll use the conti versions

As well as the mugga, I sometimes use the PB power curve hooks, they have very fine points, so they really penetrate.
I've never had a mugga open up on me, even when locked up snag fishing with heavy braid,

I've never had a Mugga open up on me, and I have used them for fishing snaggy waters with carp to over 30lb.
The only hooks I have ever had open up is Fox series 2, Carp-R-Us Nailers and Kamasan B175's.
The last 2 I gave the fish too much stick, or used too light a pattern for the venue, (B175, my fault), the Nailer was a single incident on Earith.

About a dozen year back the rigs board was chock-full of posts about the Chod. Now it's all about the Ronnie.
Next fad, please!

With multi coloured beads like a Flounder or Plaice rig.

I think the type of rig isn't really the issue, it's how you tie it, and a Ronnie is super convenient because you can use it with crimps and swivels, so it's easier to make lots of them all identical.
I prefer it to the 360 as I think the 360 can "go wrong" due to the hook/swivel arrangement
