What hooks do people prefer on a Ronnie? Was in France recently using Size 4 Kranks, landed 2 fish and they both spat the hook once i had netted them.

AND let's have it right, who says a Ronnie can't be used for Bottom baits, snowmen and wafters?

I just don't think that the presentation is right with anything other than a pop-up.
I personally think that it works best for fish that pick up baits, as opposed to fish that suck them up.

If you fish a bottom bait, critically balanced or Snowman, I think that a decent separation between hook and bait, a 'proper' hair to allow the bait to be sucked in.

I agree, it doesn't take much effort to change the rig, either by cutting the hooklink at the knot or the mainline. In fact, probably the same length of time to change a hook on a Ronnie, although admittedly I can change a Multi-rig hook in seconds.

As for hook on a Ronnie, I've been using Gardner Covert Muggas in size 4.

Found some Korda Curve shanks in my box so just tied a Ronnie using one of them. Looks far more aggressive than the Kranks so should be ok?

I think the Mugga in size 4 is one of the best patterns for this rig, I've caught loads including fish to 45lb and lost very very few,

To be honest I think the Mugga is one of the best hook patterns of all time, I also use it with bottom baits and wafters on a bunch of different rigs.

I also think the Mugga is the best pattern for a Ronnie, I normally use a size 4.
