I tend to use what I've got confidence in and that is 45lb ESP lead core with the inner removed for this particular rig, I'm not saying other products are not suitable, it's just what works for me.

The lead isn't fixed, I often find the stem off and lead has risen up the line on the retrieve when there's a fish on the end and its had a bit of a shake about.

For the supple braid knotless knot is 25lb enough

25lb is more than enough for most carp scenarios. I was snapped on 35lb hooklink a couple of months ago using this same inline setup by a big catfish, which chewed through it 🤣

I know there is tons of hooklink material out there but I do swear by this stuff for most solid bag situations. £6 for 20m in either 25 or 35lb, its spot on 👍

Post edit : it pi$$es me off actually that most well known hooklink brands now only give you 10m of hooklink material for the £10-15 that only a few years ago used to get you 20m.

Im looking at getting some pellets in bulk for PVA bags. Its between a 25kg micro mixed pellet mix or skrettings 2mm pellet both for £34. Which do you think I should go for?

Unfortunately, I cannot help you with this as I don't use either.

25kg is a f*ck load of micro pellet for bag fishing. Why not buy a kilo of each and see which you prefer?

It sounds to me like you're going 0-60 in a second flat here. Forget how I'm putting my bags together, to be honest if your not even used to bag fishing then splicing leaders will probably be alien to you. Just buy yourself some cheap bag stems, crush up a bit of bait your used to using with a few bags and get the basics right first.

Personally, I would refine and refine something I'm doing until it works, hell I'm still tweaking the presentation of my bags many years after I started using them.

With all due respect. It doesn't sound like you have a great deal of experience, so I'm assuming it's not a very difficult water you are fishing?
A small method feeder may be a better start, you basically get the same end result and can just use a short mono hook link with some scalded pellet and a bit of groundbait round the feeder.
No loops, leaders or messing about with pva

Only been carp fishing for 6 months. It is quite a hard water in my eyes. Lots of bream, crayfish, ducks that eat your boilies, otters and very low stock of very wary old carp. Someone has not caught anything there in 8 months. I only caught one carp their in 6 short sessions.

I am always open to new tactics but I'm not sure if a method feeder would work in this water

Method feeder is a great way to fish. Method mix is cheap and tweakable, puts loads of available attraction in the area, keeps you busy, encourages you to cast about a bit. Best bit is not having to mess about tying pva bags!

What water are you fishing?

Lots of bream = forget buying 25kg of pellets!
Method feeders are massively underrated, but you'll be hauling bream with pellet and groundbait however it's applied

A method feeder is definitely something I've been meaning to buy. Would work well at a match lake I fish.

The lake is Barton court. What should I use as prebait when there's lots of bream?

What tactic would an experienced angler use in these conditions?

Having googled that lake it looks like a pleasure fishing pond.
Rules say barbless hooks and no braid, not even for rigs; so you can forget braid in a pva bag.
It also says no keepnets, but there's photos of dead looking tench and bream laid out on the grass or held up in weigh slings though.
This is why advice should always be taken with a pinch of salt, this is mixed pleasure fishing and the reason people fail on places like this is because only a small % of the carp will respond to and be efficiently hooked on the rigs, baits and methods people use for bigger fish.
I'm not sure you will avoid the bream without maybe using nuts, but I wouldn't advise that. I imagine there's already plenty of old crap bait rotting in that lake already. You certainly don't need to prebait, as in bait up days in advance of fishing.
Personally I'd want to be moving around, quietly, with a single rod. The carp will be where the people aren't.. if it was too busy for that I'd probably go home if I'm honest

What a horrible website, had to have a Google after noj said pics looked like the fish are dead. Well I'm sure they are, my advice find somewhere else and pester the locals there.
Are you sure?
