If rules dictate you have to use tubing with chods. I'd use as small a length as I could get away with down by the lead. And then have a sliding bead just sitting on the top of the tubing. Just enough for the chod to but up against. The idea being that under tension the bead will slid down to the lead..there is no way I'd even contemplate threading 3ft plus of tubing.. it's giving me Anxiety thinking about it..

🤣🤣 I'm buying a second set of rods so I can keep the tubing on without having to change it all the time if I want to change rigs.

I call it being efficient that 17 hours it takes to thread the tubing could cost me fish!

I fished a lake fifteen years ago where I had the same problem.
Here's how I solved it.
Top bead carefully chosen so that it could slip of the tubing with minimal pressure.
Bottom bead glued to the tubing six inches above the lead.
Two layers of shrink tube, shrunk over the end of tungsten tubing and a slightly wider swivel than you are going to use.
Slip the shrink tubing off the end of the tungsten, apply a little glue and slip it back on.
Remove the swivel and pierce a hole through the shrink tube.
Assemble the rig on your line and pull the shrink tube over the lead swivel (or clip).
Now push a tiny bit of Bristle Filament through the holes in the shrink tubing, making sure that it passes through the eye of the swivel (or clip) and blob the ends of filament.

It sounds like a whole load of faff, but I found it the best way to ensure that the tubing didn't slid up away from the lead once a fish was on.
Once made these are reusable. Simply snip the filament to remove.
I'm sure there are much easier ways to achieve this nowadays?

Embrace the Nakedness Fella, it's liberating. Lifes to short...

Fished a lake with a tubing compulsory rule, as someone who usually uses naked chods a lot, I tried everything to make chods work on tubing. It doesn't matter what you do, it will look/feel like a compromise. They just don't ever sit right IMO.

The best option i came up with was using the minimum length of tubing, setting the top bead up the mainline. But this isn't really in the spirit of the rules, and it comes with it's own set of new problems.

Can't really get me head around these tubing rules. Fish safety or some ********. ( like most rules to be honest )

I'd never use the chod with tubing. It wouldn't look or feel right to me. It's naked or leader for me. Might as well ban the chod if that's the case.
Are you sure?
