I changed over to tungsten tubing this season after years of painfully threading through normal tubing and its so much easier.
I use the stuff from bank tackle and its not much more expensive than normal tubing from branded names.

It's a bugger to thread and I don't think it's available anymore but my favourite is ESP Anchor rig tubing with an outside diameter of 1.25mm
Unless I'm told different I don't know of any threading devices that wotk with it, just need tons of patience.
I really should make life easier and change to something easier but where's the fun in that!

Isn't that the tubing that Jim Gibbinson and his brother believed adversely affected their results?

Not heard that. What could cause that.
Here's the blurb that goes with it
ESP Anchor Rig Tube, Combines the best properties of leadcore with those of anti-tangle tubes. Acting like tubular leadcore it simplifies rigs and allows you to run your mainline straight through to the swivel or bomb. Being significantly heavier than leadcore it ensures that the business end of your tackle stays anchored to the bottom.

Perhaps it's ESP sink rig tube they don't like, that's nothing more than shiny plastic tubing

Cut away any damaged, kinked or twisty line, and cut the end to a point/at an angle.
Thread choice of tubing, the ones I prefer are Fox, Solar or Gardner. Always have the line slack as you thread it, so the 'over the shoulder' method mentioned should be quite handy.
Note, I buy so much at a time, then not need or use it that Solar may not be available now.
Final note, don't drop line or tubing mid thread

Cut the line with a sharp Stanley blade sometimes scissors can blunt the line

I've tried pole threaders and found them too wide to work. I've ordered a Gardner one which is supposed to be thinner. Hoping it works. Threading tubing is the bane of my fishing life. Especially on the bank.

So i just got the gardner threader. It does work, but it still takes forever and is a nightmare.

Yes it was. He wrote about it in his Let Us Talk articles in Carp World. Too long ago for me to remember why though.

Nip the tubing lightly with the instep of the balls of your feet and pull the tubing straight gently, if you ensure the line and tube is dry and you cut an angle on the line, it threads dead easily. Sounds strange but it's worked for me for years

Think it was a smell he believed put them off, so for some reason I think he took it out of the packaging 6months before using it.
I could be wrong!

Gardner low bore tube threader. It's an answer to a prayer. If you're having trouble threading tubing especially on the bank with used line. Get one.

Stick a lead clip and tail rubber on the tubing, put a lead on the clip so it hangs straight down and thread away. Dry tubing helps enormously. Easy, peasy.

I used to use it and yes it was easiest to thread. Sadly banned by my club. They have many stringent rules.
