I've wasted hundreds of fishing hours using a pop up on top of the silt for carp that are obviously feeding deep in it, never had a touch, even though the area the size of a tennis court was like a jacuzzi and the fish were regularly clearing their gills out by head and shouldering. Drove me nuts !

I don't fish that lake anymore but would give Dave Lanes long nylon hooklink method a go if I came across similar circumstances.
