I'm fairly sure that Jason started out using really, really long hairs (successfully) after mishearing the length to use when having the rig first explained to him. Something like 6 inches long.

According to Terry Hearn's book, his rig had two 2" nylon hairs - one off the bend and one off the eye - baited with one hemp seed and one groat on each. He critically balanced the hook itself with a small polystyrene ball.

That type of setup wasn't that unusual amongst 80's particle anglers. Well not on the lakes I fished.

Same as me Andy. 2 - 3 inch hair, multiple hairs and dare I say it, double hook rigs, standard or cutting edge!

What JH did was capture a very special fish from a special place and published it, the rest as they say is history
Are you sure?
