For the last year it's been pretty much the SlipD for everything apart from Zigs and chods, Ultra confident in the SlipD for 90% of my fishing situations.

Fished thta yesterday, first time fishina bottom bait this year. First cast, one fish, lovely hook hold in the bottom lip right in the corner of the mouth. Did for get to reset the slip D part of it after recasting, but soon remedied that

bottom bait - Slip D/Blowout rig
wafter - slip D/ Horton rig
popup - hinge

I try to only use 4 rigs to suit the lakebed or situation, less rigs you use the more confidence gained and the more consistent they become.
a hinge rig is the perfect pop up rig for me as (with some practise) you can tie them as low as a Ronnie or as high as you want.
the slip D with a shrink kicker is deadly on the deck or a wafter, I always cast it with a PVA nugget or a small stringer/stick to make sure it doesn't tangle on the cast.
the Horton rig is perfect for a silty/hard bottom as its fished with a wafter it will slowly sit on any debris on the lake bed.
lastly, the blowout rig is the best bottom bait rig ive used, caught me countless fish. have a look at Mr Hearns parrot rig on YouTube, its very similar. I have tweaked it over the years but it is a solid no frills rig.

For me it's a mugga hook, knotless knot with a rig ring blowback style on a 6-8 inch hooklength... Been full circle and ended up back at this set up

Add a line aligner if you ever get missed takes and that is a brilliant hooker.
I found knot less knot with no shrink or silicon tube could (on the waters I was fishing) could be ejected for some reason

Thanks I will give that a go Do you have the shrink tube fairly short and coming straight off the eye, or put a curve in it?

Straight, but with a proper line aligner.

Noodle rig for me, it's absolutely nails them, been using a straight bottom bait or a balanced nut and the hook holds are perfect every time, I've lost one fish on it since I started using it over 2 years ago.
