big fan of the kamo contour in 30lbs - Knots & crimps well, stiff enough for anti tangle & easily straightens out between my fingers. not had any issues with kinking yet which is a bonus. not as thick or rigid as boom so it gives me a bit more confidence when fishing over soft bottoms / low lying weed.

Rigmarole hydrolink, just remove a little bit of the inner for the hinge. Inner fluro goes up to 25lb so should be plenty stuff enough

You must be rolling in it, £12/20m as boom material

Amnesia £7.69/70m. Personally I'd be tempted to use a bog standard fluoro these days, probably even cheaper if you don't go the big name route. We all like what we like

Stuff from over 10 years ago mate when Les used to knock it out cheap at the shows (before they got bought). I've got 2 or three spools left of that and specimon 👍👍.

It isn't just the boom though it's the whole rig tied up like you would with a coated braid, just the braid coats the fluro instead.

We used to strip just the fluro out of the middle for rigs and then use just the braid for rigs too so it is really versatile.

Guess it's not so popular any more?

Esp tungsten loaded semi stiff, easier than using 2 different spools and cheaper than buying 2 different items. It's the best coated braid I've ever used.

Someone on here recommended the Korda XT snag leader in 50lb as it's crimpable. I must say it's great and it's not too stiff plus it's quite cheap in comparison to specific ‘boom' materials.

I used to use fox illusion for everything, when my stock ran out after some years I went to buy the new stuff and it kept failing at the knots, so don't use that anymore.

I've been using either iq or iq2 for my combi boom sections, hasn't let me down. I tried Kordas Boom material but found it way to stiff. I don't crimp, just tie knots.

Someone mentioned seaguar, which might be worth looking at.

Have similar experience but with carplead's super stiff fluoro. Used it for years: boom sections, hinged stiff, chods...
Last batch snapped at every not I'd made.

Switched to Nash chodlink and everything is back to normal

But indeed seaguar is a very nice brand. Not always available at the shop I go.

Second this. I switched from a traditional combi to the ESP semi stiff after my 25lb flouro section was cut in some weed.. so much easier to tie and just as effective
