Just wondering if anyone's tried this? Any disadvantages aside from more metal? I find splicing a pain in the tail & just considering an alternative to knit one pearl one. Best splicing tool rec's also welcome.

I assume you don't use the correct needle or tool to splice...
You can knot it to a swivel for one side, the other side could be connect to the mainline through a needle knot.

Yep - use splicing tools but end up snapping the needles after doing a few, I'm not nimble fingered but a lot of the needles are pretty weak. Thought krimping would be ‘flusher / neater maybe safer than using a knot?

Fox easy splice needle or similar almost certain you can't crimp leadcore

Sounds like a recipe for disaster Tbh. I'm sure you will have problems with crimps failing pretty easily on leadcore. Really you shouldn't be breaking splicing needles if your technique is good

Getting the lead core through a crimp would be a nightmare. Just get a fox easy splice needle, they make splicing a piece of cake

Cheers - not tried Fox - yep ‘ham fisted' with splicing hence the Q.
@Yannek - thx 4 the link - looks like an Albright variation within the braid 👍.
@IP - Thinking of pike trace krimps - just bigger than diameter of the leadcore - if it's fine for flouro / trace wire - would the braid coating be more liable to slip than fc or wire?

I reckon it would slip due to being a lot more pliable than wire or flouro, but the only way you will know is try, but I have a feeling the reason nobody crimps it is because it doesn't work

Lead core would slip on a crimp.
The Esp splicing needles are the best ive used but do take some getting use too.

Just Google the Keith moor knot
It's a knotless knot for leadcore
As long as you can push a splicing needle into the core and pull it back out again without breaking the needle you can do it.

Will do thx - just looking for a less fiddly (but safe) method so I can do ten leaders at once.

Mate just practice splicing. It's the best neatest way and once you've got the hang of it it's easiest too.
I find twisting the needle as I pull it through makes it easier. Also ensure you're not tightening the splice as you g. Work it with your fingers to keep it fat.

Exactly this.
I find bunching up the outer as you pull through the inner helps a lot. If that makes sense.

Another vote for the Fox splicing needle , it's a doddle or like has been said the needle knot is a very easy and neat way of attaching it to your mainline
