Has anyone seen this yet, just released on YouTube.

The "running" rig used, is a lead clip, with the swivel crushed so that the lead clip isn't fixed, and can run up the leadcore

It's not just me right, surely someone must realise how dangerous this rig is?

Surely that defeats the whole point of having a lead clip. May as well just have a running rig to a swivel and bead. It's not new either solar used to do a clip you could unscrew to make it running. Not sure if they still do them.

They need to keep coming up with new ideas in order to promote products. Undoubtedly a lot of the new rig ideas catch more anglers rather than fish.

All of the “new” ideas catch fish but doubt they will catch any more than their last big thing.

Unfortunately a lot of the ideas are for the sake of having an idea and publicising it rather than that they are needed.

Having said this they appear to be a very successful business so good luck to them

Yes, they need to keep re- inventing the wheel. Rigs that caught fish 40 years ago still catch fish. True, some of the newer materials are better than the old ones. However newest does not always gaurantee best. There are plenty of people catching on old fashioned rigs and end tackle.

It's not any more dangerous than any other running rig. If the line breaks it will still pull off the line like any other set up. They do it as it gives a bolt effect with the swivel semi fixed in the clip.

This set up has a tail rubber that has to go over a loop in the lead core / leadless leader surly not safe! There are other ways of creating the same type of shock effect with that lead arrangement - tadpole rubber or just a tail rubber.

In addition, once you start crushing swivels out of shape you're introducing a degree of weakness to a component that's not designed to be tampered with.

Regarding Peck's chod rig, when he puts the sinker on first to stop the rig running too far up the line, he then puts a tapered bead on. Surely the bead should be put on first so the rig can push it off the top of the sinker in case of a crack off? Not the first time I've seen it on online vids but this can't be right?

It absolutely is.

A running rig ring has a huge diameter, so it pulls over anything easily. This has a tail rubber, on leadcore. You try pulling that off leadcore, it only takes the tiniest but of weed or scuzz to get in that hole and its getting jammed on.

When you crack off and the line springs back and pig tails, in a birds nest, a running rig ring has half a chance of still releasing. And if it doesn't, a good running rig ring will then dump the lead and just leave the ring.

If that happens on lead clip, the tail rubber will just get pushed on further and further.

I dont even understand why they would use a leadclip, it can never dunk the lead of it isn't fixed. It's just needlessly dangerous. Just use the right tools for the job.

If the swivel was crushed with a "KORDA KRUSHER" then its perfectly safe. I think its the green colour that makes it safer.

I can't see how this makes any difference. The beat will pop off the sinker whichever way round they're put on.

As has been said elsewhere in this thread, Yes it is a whole lot more dangerous.

A lead clip will not pass over a leader knot or breakage where a large diameter run ring will.

The lead MUST be ejected to make it safe; when it is running, the tail rubber will not slide off and eject the lead. Because the run ring can slide over the knot, that is able to eject the lead.

Are you sure?

This action cannot be undone.

Yes, continue
