Seems to me, since the rise of the chod and it's mild variations, it appears things have stagnated.
Have we reached the end of the line now (no pun intended) or is there more to come?
Personally, I can't really see what else there could possibly left to invent that hasn't been done already.

The YouTube generation and the tackle manufacturers will continue to “invent” new rigs for views or for sales but I do t think there is much left.

It has been said many times but the right bait in the right place will catch as long as you have a half decent rig.

Korda may disagree

Nah, I don't believe we've reached the end of the line. There are some very good thinkers out there and while I can't see another hair rig coming any time soon I have zero doubts that our rigs can be made much more effective.

I think it was Jason Hayward that mentioned on the Korda podcast that he has an idea for a rig related product that he believes could have a huge impact. Do I believe him? Yes.

Indeed. And his secret Monks Pit tactic too. Hopefully he'll write a book one day and spill them.

Agree, there's still more that can be thought up, lots will have minimal impact but some tweaks here and there are yet to be discovered.

With more and more underwater coverage becoming available it is clear to see that we are being "done" a lot more than we imagine so I'm sure that anglers much smarter than me are looking at those small percentages to turn those near misses into bites.....

Well I just hope that not too many cotton on to the effectiveness of trebles, I like an edge.

Lol just the one?
I saw some fiendish double treble rigs on some American video the other day, I was thinking maybe 4 off each rod, 4 rods, that's an edge if ever I saw one!
Who needs hormones?

Tweaks, so we can do £50 on a small brown bag and wonder what just happened.

We reached the pinnacle with the invention of the hair-rig. Since then it's just been variations on that theme.

Well, in terms of the hook being free from the bait yes but I think the mechanics can vary wilding from what it originally was.

Fairly sure the idea might have come from the big game boys who attach dead baits for trolling with a Stitch type method

For anyone that's interested, Jason H has stopped doing his MPX food baits to free up time for other projects including the rig related product I mentioned in post 4. He's looking @ whether it's feasible to produce it.

So we might well see just how much further we can go with rigs in the coming year or two.

Ironically I still remember the cobra cup picture of him with the magnificent fish, caught on a basic rig and sweetcorn was it?

Not a knock at him at all but is he a rig guru who is going to change the world of carp rigs as we know them or a bloke who sharpens hooks?

Jason caught the BM on (quote from Alan Tomkins) "a very cunning tactic based on observation of carp feeding". IIRC it involved a very long hair with tiny particles glued to it (poss hemp or groats, I can't quite remember).
He's been a master of rig trickery since day one, one of the best thinking anglers out there imo. There's several stories of him getting funky with rigs/tactics and emptying places. He's not just a guy that sharpens hooks, he's up there with the best thinkers in carp angling.
He's mentioned this rig trick/edge for years and always said he'd keep it to himself but it looks like now he's going to try to get it to market. Defo something worth keeping an eye on.
If there is such a thing as a rig guru, JH is one imo.
Are you sure?
