What putty is everyone using at present? My poor old pot of Korda stuff is donkeys years old and has been re-used too many times.

Im looking for a nice tacky putty that sets firm and doesnt slip and move. Normally use it over a crimp and as 'mouse droppings' on a longer flouro rig. Heard good things about the Thinking Anglers and Ridgemonkey stuff but thought it best to ask you lovely lot first

kyrston stuff is really good.

I always steam my putty before working it on the rig, found it sticks better.

I've found the Nash stuff to be the best. Switched over from Kryston a few years back and it's been really good. Either that or heavy metal will serve you well.

A pot I bought recently seems identical to what's left of a pot from 6-7 years ago, maybe more.

Surprised people rate the korda, the stuff I've got is sticky as hell and dissolves in warm water. I've kept it to see if it's better than heavy metal when it gets cold

I bought some putty from LCA Tackle at the last Brentwood carp show. They had a stand there. It's actually Olivier from the Passion Lake if any of you know him. Trust me his putty sticks likes***. It will absolutely stick to anything and it's easy to use.

I found the newer stuff didn't stick as well, and also wasn't quite as heavy as the original. I'm sure others have had similar experiences with it since they were bought out

There are three varieties of kryston putty, I'm using the extra which seems the same, it was never great at sticking in cold temps.
I kept reading it had changed for the worse so tried a few others and ended up back at kryston

Yep, drop em, heavy metal and heavy metal extra. Drop em I've no idea if it's changed, I'm still using a tub from at least 10 years ago, the normal stuff ran out years back, and the extra I still have a tiny bit of old and for me it sticks perfectly. Warm it up and really work it until its soft, shape it, and then let it rest for about 5 minutes. Never had it move when doing that. The new stuff I lost time after time even though it appeared to be the same so I assume there is a difference
Found the gardner critical mass stuff to be pretty decent

I never found it great in winter, you can warm it up and knead it a bit and it seems good, but after a short time in cold water it'll just slide along the hook length. I'm hoping the korda stuff will be better in winter, I couldn't use it in summer, Sticking all over my fingers like bubblegum, then after a miss cast I touched it while clearing a bit of silkweed and it had turned to mush after a minute in the water

Although the later kryston isn't quite as good as it used to be I still find it head and shoulders above the rest, went through a stage a few years back of trying to find an alternative and found all of them pretty sh1t
