Using a fairly big bait, 18mm bottom bait with a 14mm pop up to create the snowman. The lake I am currently fishing also has very silty areas that I regularly fish in so the rig would need to suit that situation. What would your guys preference/opinions be on whether to use either the slip D rig or german rig?

Slip D for me, especially with a bigger bait.

Assuming you're fishing them on a heli they're both suited reasonably well to silt. Tbh almost any rig suits silt imo, it's the lead system/set-up that needs to be adjusted.

I have never used a Slip D Rig so I can't comment on that. However, since moving from a standard Hair Rig to a German Rig, My Catch Rate has Improved as well as My Hook Holds. I really like the setup and the ease of tying it. Mugga hook seems to suit it fine also.

Try One rod on a German and another on a Slip D so that you can compare the two? Both good rigs that'll defo catch you fish

I'm a massive fan of the slip d and use it most of the time, hook holds are very good, needed the forceps at the weekend it was that far back

I would be interested to try a Slip D. I like the german as it is a simple case of mini swivel on and then hook bead and you are ready to go!

But everybody else is doing exactly the same thing and it still very blatant in my opinion. Fine on a runs water I suppose, but the slip d is always my go to rig if I can get a good drop.

Those of you that use the slip d, do you use pva foam or anything on the cast? Was wondering if there is any possibility of the hair/loop tangling on the cast?

Depends on how much movement there is in the rig if you have a longer distance. of movement then i would foam it up or use a pva stick to prevent tangles.

not sure why the slip D is any less blatant than the German rig?

What hooklink materials are we all using for both the slip D and Garman rigs?

There is a possibility of it tangling which I overcome with a stringer or by threading a bag on.
Are you sure?
