Morning all
Would anyone use a Ronnie rig with a boom section for wafters

Yes - very effective

I personally wouldn't, for me the bog standard German rig is my go to wafter rig, it's easy to tie and very few components. And it was designed for fishing with wafters/bottom baits.
That said, I'm pretty sure that I've seen posts on here where lots of people have used them with success. Isn't a Ronnie rig for a wafter called a Turbo German? Not really up to speed on most rigs, so can't confirm either way.

I've seen a few use it, can't see why it wouldn't work. As a 'one rig suits all' option allowing quick change I suppose is the benefit. I personally prefer a blowback for wafters but that's just personal preference I suppose

I use them as a turbo german..but I remove the ring on the swivel and crimp or tie my hooklength straight to the swivel eye. If you don't do this your hook can fall backwards and land on your hooklength..or so ive read!
I had great success with them in France last year and every fish was nailed in the bottom lip. I make mine using the spinner swivels with a backwards kicker on the hook so I can swap hooks in seconds and also unclip it when wrapping up if I am using sharpened hooks.

I've just searched, and can't for the life of me work out the difference between a Spinner, a Ronnie and a Turbo german rig?

Check out the Gemini web site. They sell the ready made booms for these rigs. The turbo rig appears to be the same as the Ronnie, minus the ring on the end of the boom/swivel

It's the ring on the swivel that makes a ronnie different to a turbo german. have a read of this

Using a ring swivel or not hardly makes it a new rig surely. It's like renaming it because you used a rig ring instead of a micro swivel to mount the bait.
If you fish a 360 rigvwith a ring swivel, it's still a 360 rig, or has that got some silly different name now as well?

Call it what you want but it makes a pretty significant difference to how it works, although if your using fluro you can just loop the end of of it and use it for both pop ups and wafters.I just prefer it tight to the swivel.
Put it this way..I never had much success until I read that article and started making it the way I do!

So the only difference between the hinged stiff rig and a stiff d rig is a swivel added to it. What's the difference with the addition of a ring changing the turbo German rig to the Ronnie?

I would have thought that was obvious if you tied them up?
Assuming you are using a closed knot like a grinner or uni to the swivel and not a loop..
The rig with the ring swivel has free movement of the hook. It can be popped up like a Ronnie but if using a bottom bait the hook and bait could fall back on onto the hook link.
Whether this is a bad thing is open to debate.
Without the ring on the swivel the hook can only rotate in the same plane as the hook link, think similar to a propeller at the nose of an aeroplane. The hook does not have movement to pop up perpendicular to the hooklink.

I've never heard of a stiff D rig? I used to fish stiff hinge rigs without the bottom swivel, (Albright knot to braid) and always called it a stiff hinge?

A sitter d dog is pure and simply a rig, with a d on the hook as oppposed to a hair and tied using a stiff material?

Well that rig doesn't fit the criteria of a stiff hinge all 😂
To be a stiff hinge it would have to be tied with a stiff material for the boom and Chod section. Without it, it's just a hinge. And of course a “conventional” stiff hinge in its original form is tied with a swivel connecting the boom to the Chod section.
My point being there's a hundred variations of rigs. All near enough the same as eachother just with minor differences. A rig ring, a swivel, the length and shape of shrink tubing, a material used etc etc
Each variation has its own name

That's a good point hadn't thought about that
Maybe it's a Semi Stiff hinge? Or a turbo Italian waldo rig.

It's not rocket science, but maybe you are being deliberately obtuse? Tie both up and bed the knot at the hook end tight to the swivel without a ring( turbo German, terrible name), then to a swivel with a ring (Ronnie, equally terrible name)

No I literally haven't got a clue what you're talking about mate and the relevance it has to my post.
Not combative

Fair play, I thought you were on the wind up. I'll try and take some photos tomorrow, easier to explain with a photo.

Ohhhhhh you literally think I don't know the difference? Lol that's where we're getting confused. I was saying what is the difference between naming rigs with very slight differences with different names. Not in a literal way as is in didnt know the difference 😂😂😂😂

I couldn't get my head around how somebody who seems so straight up in other threads could be so dense in this one
Turns out we are on the same page, the names are b***ocks.
