I am fishing a lake tomorrow and need to use a lead clip set up running. The lake is over 20ft deep would much rather use a helicopter set up which would be a safer set up but the club don't have a clue and insist on a running lead set up. I haven't used a lead clip much before, any advice would be appreciated,,

The fox camo running lead clip is good if you can find them available

Surely a running lead clip defeats the object in the first place
You may as well just go old school and use a lead running on the line

Have a look at this Phil, it's essentially what I use for catfish (except different hooklink and no leader).

If that is the rule don't use a lead clip, use a running rig. Most manufacturers offer a run ring, the Enterprise and Fox ones are decent from experience

Agreed, that's not what lead clips are for.

Make that 3 of us who say that.
Gardner, Drennan and Korum are the first that spring to mind from me, but there are others

PB Products do a hit and run system, I've been using it for a couple of seasons now and, for the most part, I like it.

Just need to be careful, I used to use the John Roberts run rings, and after a while, the line cut a groove into them and your line would go all curly. I switched over to the Nash ones, which I don't think they do any more, and these have been fine. So I'd advise to steer clear of the JR ones plus any cheap ebay ones. I'm guessing you won't go wrong with some of the reputable brands already mentioned.

I've found the fox ones the best to use but they are probably much the same. Running rigs are good in deeper water especially if you are fishing close in.

I use the fox angled camo run beads for pretty much all my fishing now and at all ranges. Need a long anti tangle sleeve though to prevent tangles.
HERE
out fish a conventional lead clip all day long and you can get pva stops to drop the lead, although not convinced how practical that is, probably lose lead every retrieve.

Why not fish solid bags with a running inline lead. Just remove the plastic inner.
