What's everyone using?
Used to use thinking anglers top chod beads but found they do start to move up and down the lead core/leadless leader on the cast.
Moved over to Korda no trace, and the same thing is happening. I set the top bead 1ft up, reel in and the bead is next to the lead.
Can anyone recommend some alternatives please?

Not sure what beads I'm using, however I just tie a bit of PVA string behind the bead and it remains in place.
👍👍

Maybe I didn't explain it well. I know how a heli set up works I've used them continuously for the past 10+ years.
The top bead (the one one where the no trace bead sits on the silicone sleeve) ends up right down by the swivel and bottom bead.
I set the top bead about a 1ft up, reel the rig in and the silicone sleeve (+ no trace bead) end up basically down the bottom. I'm not sure if the leadless leader is creating a huge bore in the silicone sleeve or not and that's why it's rubbing more freely than it should be?

Flying back leads? The rubber does stretch over time, i have had it with flying back leads pushing the bead down on the cast, but changing the rubber solved that problem

I have toyed with the idea of an extra rubber stop just below the top bead to try and prevent the slipping as they arent cheap and seems a waste just because its slipping constantly, especially as you lose the line saver bead aswell

I use IB hooks version of the no trace beads. As mentioned over time the ‘grip' on the leadcore becomes lessened, and the sleeve part needs to be replaced.

I'm confused. If the top bead is slipping on the leader surely the hooklink will be pushing it up the leader on the cast, ie away from the bottom bead and lead. So what is pushing it back down the leader when you wind in?

my thoughts on this.
The issue will be the resistance of you winding back in the end tackle through the thick weed to the bank, and this is probably causing the top bead/silicone sleeve to slip/slide down the leader to the bottom bead and lead.

King of the pond ones are good. The bead is tight so does needs working.
That or a large sinker and no trace beads work well. But I do use heavy fluoro leaders

If a No Trace bead and sleeve are both moving in either direction without separating, then they're not doing the job they're designed to do and something is amiss.
If whatever you're using as the top bead is ending up next to the lead it can only have been forced there by reeling in through weed, as others have already said.

Yes, and you also need to wonder why that bead isn't coming off.

The lead core can wear away those inner sleeves if you don't wet them when moving ,
the friction of the lead core will make the inner bore of the cone shaped bead to big for it !
Although I'd have thought that it would be obvious before casting out .
Also if you don't use a fine baiting needle to put it on, again it will make the inner bore too big and slide on the lead core.

No problems here with a long piece of silicone and esp tungsten beads

A needle pierced rubber bead is fine as long as it can move under pressure and go over a knot.
