got a couple of nights coming on a silty estate lake, last time out I got hammered by the bream so I've got some 22mm baits to try and get some sleep. I'm thinking of trying a 22mm15mm snow man to deter the bream...what's the biggest snowman you've caught on??

I've caught many a bream on double 22 or 24mm baits. Imo bait sizing isn't the way to deter them

Try a heavy bottom bait rig, push a piece of stiff fluoro through one bait, the hair loop, and another, butt both baits against the hair loop and blob the tags. fish this with a point heavy rig so the large hook bait basically needs to be in the mouth for the hook to come into play.
doesnt completely eliminate it weirdly but a damn sight less.

Try a big pop up on a flick rig about 3 inches popped up. Good for bigger carp not so good for small ones. Make sure it's well weighted down.

Catch tons of bream on the river on big baits I've recently found out that black pepper is a good bream deterrent so next time I'm out I'm gonna give it a go in a few weeks just need to find a decent glug/dip/soak with black pepper in it lol

I had a 2lb bream on a 3rd of a tin of spam intended for cats, rod was in the water about 45 seconds
Well I went the 22mm 16mm snowman and it certainly slowed the bbream down, only 3 of them 10 carp upto 27.8, I went on 22mm
hardened bottom baits in the end, drilled and corked to negate the weight a little, almost a wafter but not quite.

Use a bigger hook as well. #2 works for me, even on 18mms

2x 20mm with a 15mm on top as a stack.
It avoided most bream and smaller fish on Ardleigh and Nazeing

I think that double baits and a long hair can help avoid catching bream. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't stop pick ups but they can spot something is wrong before they are hooked and spit it out leaving the rig still fishing.

That's correct but what with your feedbait?
They are gone due to bream. Any of you feed on regular times (30min or so) to have always bait around the hookbait?
If fishing long range and boating out I prefer large baits in general 25 or 28mm.

I fish 1500 froday untill 0800 Sunday morning and put 4.5k of 22mm in amd 1k of dumbells various sizes, the runs I had were absolute one toners on all 10 fish and I'm guessing they were gaining confidence in picking baits up and moving off.

I don't have a great answer for that!
When I fished this way to avoid bream I deliberately cut back free bait to almost nothing (5 baits per hookbait) as feeding more just encouraged the bream! I was on attractor baits so was happy with this compromise but that isn't what you want to hear I imagine.

Something for you, bream tend to feed and vacuum an area, everything on it, so pellets, particles, groundbait, natural food, bream stay on the area until its gone, or until its daylight, then they start feeding again.
Just a single bait, PVA bag, mesh or stringer worth is enough to get a take from carp.
Quite often if you don't want bream, don't put much bait in.
Please note that first paragraph, on a couple of waters I have fished, bream only fed at night, during the day they were still on the area just hanging.
Yet on some lakes they will feed nonstop, or until a fish is hooked and lost, then move.

I don't mean for loosing fish, but for eliminating bream.

Not really a snowman but I once had a 27lb carp on 5 x 20mm halibut pellets fished as a bunch.
It wasn't intentional either, I'd cast out a hookbait with a 4 bait stringer attached to it, only I'd tied the stringer with floss instead of PVA, so the stringer didn't dissolve as intended, the fish had 3 of the 5 baits in its mouth!
I'd got to the lake before first light in the winter (I know Halibut pellets in the winter, what was I doing!?) and tied it up in my half awake state, obviously only realised what I'd done when I caught!

When I was a kid, before I had buzzers I would reel my pike baits in and put the baited rig under my rod tips in the edge for the night, my god what was I doing,
Enyway 2 or 3 times in the morning the rod tip would be moving and there would be a carp on the end, mad,
