What are peoples opinions of these please ? I have used Korda Kamakuras before but found these turn over fairly easily . Just wondering how the two compare , thanks.

All sharpened hooks are honed to such a point (see what I did there ) that anything can turn them over
Class them all as 1 fish hooks.

Just had a couple of packets delivered today in 6 and 4. They're sharp but are a more evenly tapered point than the Kamakuras, which are ground to a fine bendy needle in the last few mm. The Muggas are definitely more robust than Kamakuras, though it's all relative and they won't take a hammering obviously.

Thanks . I thought that maybe as they are sharpened differently they maybe a little more robust than Kamakuras . I'm only looking at half a dozen bites a season anyway on the waters that I fish so thought they might give me an advantage over hooks straight out of the packet , thanks.

I think it makes no difference personally sharpened Hooks, the risk of the point going is very high and that will cost more fish than the positives of a sharpened hook getting any extra bites. Point can go before you've even had a take, why would you do that. Seems bonkers to me. Rather a sharpish hook straight out packet that stays sharp until you get the pick up (or beyond). Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies . Yonny, that is a very informative piece thanks . I'm just trying to increase my odds slightly . As said before the waters I fish I'm probably looking at half a dozen bites a season so certainly not a runs water . Ph wise , no sharpened hooks I've used in the past have suffered from corrosion . Also not overly gravely either so probably a good candidate for hand sharpened hooks . The only thing that put me off in the past with the Kamakuras is how delicate they are . The only other option for a hand sharpened hook is to do it myself. I'll be brutally honest though in saying that ‘I'm not that good' at it , thanks,

If you look after sharpened hooks, understand the risks, and mitigate said risks, you'll increase your odds SIGNIFICANTLY imo.
I agree those Kamakuras are just that little bit too fragile. I'll only really use them for zigs. The JH ones are the daddy though mate.
The simple fact is that a sharper hook is a more effective hook and I personally don't have time to debate with anyone that takes exception to that. You just need to mitigate the risks associated with using them.

They will increase you odds of a hook up imo, I wouldnt bother on a prolific water, but in your situation they will be a good choice.
I've used he's sharpened esp grippers, done v well, definitely a one fish hook though.

Thanks for that . How do you rate Korda's Kama kote as a protection? I've not seen the sticks of Jason's before so not sure how they compare . They do seem a different type of protection- one seems like a grease where as Jason's appears like a wax , thanks .

The Kama Kote is better than it looks mate. A good 24 on the deck and at least 48 protection on the zigs

Ah right , thanks . Might have to get some of these hooks to try . I use mugga's a lot now and they seem fairly sharp out of the packets but I'm guessing Jason's hooks will be another level . I'm ok touching up a hook when needed but wouldn't trust myself to sharpen them from scratch 🤣

Jason's hooks have to be seen to be believe, they are deadly. Best of the best!

I get all my hooks sharpened by Jason. I fish a few different places and of course the rules are always different at each venue and I end up fishing barbed and barbless and with different patterns. I think he does a great job. I looked at Kamakura's and I didn't like the look of the point at all.
The only hook I've never asked Jason to sharpen is a Mugga funnily enough. They always seem to be very sharp straight out of the packet.

Anyone used Jason's own Ultra sharp range of hooks. Particularly the wide gape?.

Yes. They're all decent including the wide gape. Check out the grippa. Beast hook.

See how you go with them on the waters you fish tbh
One place I was on was a tiny bit brackisk so a nightmare for "corrosion"
Others are not so bad, all depends on the water

Yes mate, I was referring to the kamakuras and kote tbh
Fine on some places for ages, tarnished quite quickly on others
Not used Jasons hooks yet, will check them out
