Haven't really done much zig fishing but the little I have done always got sharp bobbin rises then nothing, my question is in all you chaps experience what are bites generally like on zigs?? Single bleeps?? Screamers? Drop backs? I'm just a little unsure

I don't just rely on the tech. Once I've heard a beep I watch the line and the rod tip and check the surface where my zig is. One beep and no further action I would leave it but sometimes it's a difficult call.

By the sounds of things it's gonna be trial and error and like you say any bleeps have a look at the line and rod tip and go from there

As said before if you get a beep watch the line and rod tip. One lake I fish the takes on zigs are neally always full blown takes but another lake i fish quite often you will get a couple beeps and then you see the line gently pulling through the water.

Always hit single bleeps when zig fishing, bites can be almost anything depending on where the fish is approaching from.

As previously mentioned, after getting initial indication, watch the line from rod tip.
Also if your line feels tauter than you originally set it up, likely to be a fish on.

Once you've had a few and probably missed some it will make become easier, agree single bleeps can be a chance.

Fish tight lines and fairly tight clutch. Single bleep hit it.

I'm my experience the depth of the water and length of the zig makes a difference in the take. Add to that the distance you are fishing. I water I used to fish was a reservoir that was 12-14 ft deep everywhere. So fishing a 11ft zig at up to 60yards would always give a massive drop back before pulling tight. On my new water that is 7ft at the deepest, the zig bites tend to be more subtle. But I agree with the comments about watching the tip of your rod and the line.....

I personally don't do anything different in terms of indication for zig fishing than I do for fishing on the deck. If it bleeps, check it out. The alarm can't tell you what's going on out there, just that something IS going on. The rest is done by using common sense to evaluate the situation. You'll know if a carp is on the end just by checking the rod tip.
