Adjustable Zig Float Kits - Fox or Korda

Which do you favour and have you come across any problems with either?

There's not much difference IMO, fox has a cool feature where you can use bit of pva foam and loop hook length so doesn't tangle, only downside is their boom doesn't fit many leads.

On the Korda one there is a small opaque square on the float to stick a pva nugget on. Trap your hook and bait under this and no tangle problems, provided you stop the lead and feel it down.

Can only talk of the Korda one as I have not used any others. Have had no issues with it and still going strong. Simple to use and have confidence in it.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've bought one of each so I can use on 2 rods and see how I go with them.

I did see what Scott888 is saying about not all leads will fit onto the Fox boom. First lead I tried wouldn't so I've made up another boom using the top hockey stick from the Fox boom and some 25lb Korda Boom with a snap swivel at the bottom.

All leads will fit now so hopefully it will work well.

That's a good idea mate, I thought that maybe the fox leads may be only ones that fit the boom section but will make myself a boom like you've said.

Neither - just get some sub floats used in pike fishing

Korda one works well but is impossible to see at range unless you've got decent optics . . .

Have a method for this problem. Make sure you can get to the rod tips when they are on the rests. Measure your hook length from float to bait. Cast out and let the the float up until the line goes slack, pull in line until you can just feel the float, float is now on the surface on tight line to the lead. Put on elastic line marker at tip. Reel in until the marker is the hook lengths length down the rod. Bait is now on the surface,. Put second marker at tip. Job done. Reel in 1ft line, bait 1ft down, reel in 2ft line, bait 2ft down. Etc, etc. Any range, any conditions, it works. You don't even need to know the depth.

. . .good advice . . .but a faff and prob why I don't use adjustables at range as this method means you need to be clipping to the exact same spot (depths can vary in some lakes if the cast is a foot out)

These days I just have a donkey load of pre-tied fixed hooklengths in multiple lengths and lob em out . .once I get interest I just change all rods to that depth and spomb away . . !

You don't need to know the depth. That's the point. Initially there is a bit more to do, I agree, but, once on the spot with the markers on the line you can leave your lead In place and accurately adjust your bait up and down as many times as you like for as long as you like without retrieving the lead. You don't have to regularly cast out to the spot just stay on it. If you do want to move spots, 5 minutes resetting the markers and you're back in the game, no hassle. No marker floats, no Deeper. Minimum disturbance
Just a point, with your method you have to cast accurately to a spot where you know the depth precisely everyime you want to adjust the depth.
With my method you can cast anywhere, one cast per rod and be fishing bang on your chosen depth right on the fish. Only time you need to cast out again is when you've had a fish.
Final point. I can accurately change the depths on 3 rods in 30 secs. You would have to retrieve 3 rods, change 3 hook lengths. Wrap up 3 rods. Cast out 3 rods. Sorry mate it's no contest.

. . .true - and don't get me wrong I've played with adjustables for some time (not using your method which does make sense) as the benefits you state are obvious . . .if the conditions are right (all 3x rods on zigs) and its within 50-60 yards I'll use them . . . .any further I'd rather use a fixed length

Agree about range. If you really need to get it out there, adjustable are not the one. Shallow water, less than 8 ft I wouldn't use them. Do what works for you.
