I like subline in green , it's sinks as in the name it's not let me down I've used it for 5 seasons (not the same spool) so as my dad would say if it ain't broke don't fix it

Stil using Berkley Big Game line for carp fishing. However I am very impressed with the Drennan Specimen XT Camo line that I have been using for Barbel fishing. I may switch to that for carp fishing as well.

ESP Synchro. Was using the loaded version for a few years and was happy, switched to the normal last year (as shop didn't have the loaded) and it has similar characteristics but seems to behave a little better on the spool so will be sticking with that

CM90 here too. Been using it on the Tidal Trent that is full of rocks and requires leads up to 8oz with PVA bags as well. Not had a break yet.

What's the esp syncro xt like buddy? Been using shimano techinium black for years but seems to be harder and harder to get plus fancy a change, seen this is very popular so thought I'd give it a go

I've used both and liked both. Syncro is my favourite as it seems more durable. Cm90 is more supple and the only thing I didn't like was the colour.
Both very good lines. As is shimano technium black , pro distance and gold. I'd happily use any of them lines.
One I wouldn't use again is fox trans khaki , snapped like cotton.

Also used both and don't dislike CM90 just prefer Synchro. Feel it is a slightly better all round line although do have 18lb CM90 on my spare spools and wouldn't have any issues in using

Syncro xt is a great line mate. Ive been through loads of lines over the years and the syncro is well uo there. I have 12lb on one set of rods, 15 on the other, also used 18 but found that over kill and the 15 was more than sufficient. decent abrasion resistance in the real world, not sure what tackle box tests say though. Had fish into reeds, round snags, always been ok, only one cut off and that i believe was on mussels in weed. I fish naked helicopter rigs aswel, so its straight through. Low memory, casts really well, and behaves on the spool once its bedded in.
The loaded was more wirey and didnt behave anywhere near aswell. Not a massive fan of sinking lines though, but the normal xt does sink a bit, but not over the top.

Doesn't coil as much, the line casts better as it's not so wiry. Also find it sinks better. Only thing I don't like as much as the Syncro is the colour.
I had been using syncro for 4-5 years before changing over, so something special had to beat it!

I was actually very satisfied with CM90 in the past year that I see no reason to go for a different mainline

As others have said I suppose it depends what you want it for.
I've never really had the need to change from 12 or 15lb Daiwa Sensor for my type of fishing which is typically short to medium range silty waters. When I wanted to cast longer distance I'd drop to 10 or even 8lb with a leader, again no issues. Sensor is strong reliable and cheap and for over 20 years never let me down to the point I'd change it...then....
I read the reviews about Shimano Technium Black on this forum and thought I'd give it a go as it was on offer. The 15lb is very wirey and not as supple as Sensor but it's been very good. I bought it for it's low stretch compared to sensor from a indication point of view but given my limited fishing over the last 2 years it's hard to form a solid conclusion. What I have had, and this is subjective, is snap offs when playing, on my last session I had 2 which when you bare in mind I normally don't have 2 a year is unusual. I check my line every cast so for me the jury is still out on STB.
There is a lot of line snobbery about Sensor, I can only comment on my experience with it. I'm obviously getting old because I see the price of some modern lines and I think WTH
but if it makes you happy and all that, and more importantly if it does the job better the price might be worth it.

Store owner recommended the Touchdown above the CM 90 today, the touchdown is even smoother and sinks better than the CM90 according to him.

Touchdown is decent but you do have to cut the last couple metres off after every session as it gets chewed up

No they had from 0.30, 0.34 and 0.40 around +10 boxes each
The did tell me that you have to spool up Korda Touchdown 100% correctly (with many it kinks due to incorrect spooling), he will do that for me next Monday, If I don't like Touchdown I will go back to CM90.

Daiwa Justron in fluro yellow, 16lb, but also bought it in black and (another set in fluro yellow) at 20lb
Very strong, low stretch, sinks well, can't comment on abrasion yet, but very impressed for the price.

Thats rubbish.. its always the last couple of meters that gets kinked and buggered after every session, shame as otherwise I really liked it. That would have nothing to do with spooling up, the rest of the spool stays fine. Try it, might be different for you. This does happen with most lines to be honest (except cm90)

You sure it's not down to you fishing over bars as to the reason for the knicks out of the line? Can't see any other reason for it. Can't see the line getting knicks in it if the place you were fishing was smooth all over.
Found the 20lb touchdown to be very good and casts very well having got some big distances with it considering its 0.43mm. Not had the problems you've mentioned, although I have had a few knicks on the line, though that would be due to some savage bars and zebra's in my place. All in all, I've been very impressed with Touchdown, so much so I've re-spooled with it again, and I'm very fussy with my lines in how they behave and would soon enough nuts it off if it was pap.

Me and a mate had the exact same problem with touchdown in both 12 and 15lb strains, every session or 2 the last couple of meters were knackered, that's fishing to a far bank margin most of the time with no snags, otherwise it's a superb line, very strong and sinks really well, he still uses it but it was annoying me lol, I'm on syncro xt now and it's bullet proof but it does coil up on the spool abit, although I'm using it on emcast 25 reels so that could be why. Have technium black on the spare spools, best line I've used, but been fishing a really snaggy little lake so gone with the syncro, made for the job 👍

Yes,the technium is probably the best mono but hard to get hold of,I did not like the cm90 it seemed to stand out.There is a new cm90 coming out apparently(new colour)but don't know when

Agree I've been using it for a while, it does coil up when first cast out but once it's been out for a couple of minutes it's fine. It's a heavy line, obviously, so sinks very well but not the greatest for casting.

Less supple than standard XT, takes a set (coiling), and doesn't deal with twist as well imo. Just doesn't behave anywhere near as well as the standard stuff.
Edit: I was told it's the colour i.e. pigment that differs to the normal stuff. Not sure if it's true but if so it hasn't done it any favours.

The loaded is a different line with different attributes. If you keep it moist it does what it should very well.

Pleased with Gardner pro so far, sinks behaves dark and cheap

Tried the ridge monkey flouro line last year didn't like it also tried the Korda line years ago didn't like that either,I've now got some new stuff on can't remember off top of my head what it is I'll look in a bit as I'm off fishing tomorrow so first time I will be trying it out as it came recommended from my mate and his son tho k it's gardener hd or something

just bought the OGX from thinking anglers to try, I'm usually a syncro xt person, original bullet before that.
I don't see the point putting on the spools just yet though as current syndicate allows braid, which I much prefer

I like fluorocarbon in winter and my water has a leader ban. Purchased floorit and it felt so good on the spool and like a dream solution.
It casts like a bag of spanners, whilst only a small ish lake my record cast is 3 and a half wraps, but I now have enough for hooklenghts for the next 476 years.
It got better with use but my god, spooled up perfectly the first 3 sessions my casts were like Jordan Pickford casting a 13 foot woolworth match rod.

It got better with use but my god, spooled up perfectly the first 3 sessions my casts were like Jordan Pickford casting a 13 foot woolworth match rod.

15lb Green on my Pike/Cat set up, but with using Baitcasters I'm trying 30lb Pro Braid on one with the extra capacity achieved with the low diameter, up to now quite like it and not suffered and birds nests either.
~ Oh and 6lb Green Maxima on the spare Spools for the River gear - with having multiple modes from the same JW Rovex Rods.

17lb X line if fluro, and giving the 0.37 Korda long chuck a go on mono as and when the situation dictates.
have hit distances of 110 yards (measured) with the X Line so will use that 99% of the time

I used to use Ultima F1 in black, 18lb, it has the diameter of a run of the mill 15lb, tough as old boots and casts well. F1, 15lb incidentally snap easily.
But after reading about Asso fast sinking in 15lb, I gave it a try and been using it for about the past 4 years and never looked back. Brilliant stuff. Only problem is, I think it has been discontinued. Tried contacting Asso and got no reply but luckily I've managed to get a bulk spool of the stuff.

The loaded has XT in its name as well? I had coiling too. I read this happens when the lines are dehydrated. I saw a youtube video with Matthew Collins testing them, saying its best to wet them (he used sweatbands dunked in water). When I haven't fished for a while, thats what I do and I've had no issues whatsoever. Slightly offtopic: what did worry me is that according to ESP the best knot is a five turn grinner, whereas Collins had a better strength using the palomar. Which knot do you guys use? And for snag leaders?

I've just spooled up with the subsonik 0.37mm as was on offer at AD. first impressions its quite wiry but does seem to have less memory than the others ones I've used. first time out sat with it, so ill feedback how it feels

i also found the palomar a stronger knot, for mono or flouro snag leaders i like an improved albright knot, braid leader i would probably use a back to back grinner

FWIW if I have to use mono I like 20lb Touchdown in brown.
I'm not sure if I'd join a water now that didn't allow braid.

Thanks for the tip! I tried the improved Albright, but found it a bit disappointing during testing. When I applied short bits of pressure the knot came loose after a couple of times and other times it broke. But I will look at some more instructions. Maybe I did something wrong.
