Just fine, a mate fishes his Ronnies like that. I prefer Hybrid Stiff to Boom for Ronnies - easier to mould the putty around the loop connecting to the ring on the swivel. Just a personal preference, but love Boom for Hinge Rigs. Just make sure you crimp it right and blob the tag ends ( I also put shrink tube over the crimp)... never had one go on me (yet...).

I don't blow the ends or use any tubing over the crimps, never had any issues with it, just using a crimp

I don't know if just unlucky but the last two spools of Boom I bought did not like being crimped at all & would break or slip (with the new Krimps that were redesigned for use with Boom & after having no problems with previous spools). Both spools were bought from different shops so not been stored wrong etc (both were the 25lb version with 0.6mm Krimps). Krimps & tool are fine with the 25lb Thinking Anglers Think Link though so can only put it down to the Boom not being right. Maybe a bad batch as was not putting that much pressure on the polling to test it. Just something to keep an eye on as like said, had no trouble with previous spools.
I'm a recent convert to using this, I think it's absolutely brilliant, using it on a helicopter though, much much stronger than I thought it would be 👍

I'd say yes, but make sure you're there is a 'hinge' between lead clip and boom. If not, its so stiff it may end up sticking up in the air if the lead clip is sitting wrong.

I only use boom on heli's, for lead clips i would use hybrid or a semi stiff braid.

Amazes me that people use this stuff in the way they do... I always blob the tag ends and shrink tube the crimp. I've been crimping leaders for pike and zander for nearly 30 years and can assure anyone who thinks 'never had any issues' is an excuse for not taking a belt and braces approach, needs to think again. Because you are not doubling back the tag end, as I would with steel or titanium wire, there's ALWAYS a chance for the connection to slip or even break. Remember that when a connection goes ding, which it will...
Oh, just feedback for anyone using this with hinge rigs, it just seems to encourage the hook to tangle with the boom - not sure why, as this rarely happens when I use a stiff braid. It's cost me fish that and the solution is of course to put a foam nugget over the hook - but in winter that doesn't always dissolve... until I get to the bottom of the issues, I have gone back to using hybrid stiff

I also krimp and blob the tag but that's all I've ever needed to. In years of using it I've never had one slip so have go zero worries.
I tested the Krimps on Gemini leaders by cutting one end off and replacing it, the Gemini fused end broke every time. So this further boosted confidence in the krimped set-up.

Do you mean hinge links as in a stiff boom with supple braid or stiff boom and stiff chod section??

Very much doubt the shrink tube does anything to help stop it slipping. Of it slips out of a crimp, shrink tube will do nothing. It isnt anywhere near tight enough to have any impact. No doubt if there were krimps slipping, we'd be reading loads more about it. If i cant get a crimp to slip in my hands, no way a fish is going to do it.

I've never had one go, just cutting tag end to 1mm or so to crimp, great product, cant fault them. People having issues are either not crimping correctly or using material they shouldn't be..

Shrink tube just makes it nice and tidy. Did I really have to spell that out? LOL.
You guys really need to speak to some experienced pike anglers, who use crimps habitually. Mark my words, just because you have not had a connection fail, doesn't mean it is not going to happen. Pal of mine had one go on him and also kept bleating on about not having any issues... guess what? He now blobs the tag end. Why risk it? Takes seconds to blob the tag end and so make zero sense not to do it. You might not have had a puncture in 20 years or ever, but I bet you always have a spare wheel or repair kit in the car... belt and braces!
People need to look harder as well - plenty of online chit chat about the crimp slipping... and testing by hand, come on, don't make me

You're talking rubbish mate - how many fish have you had on one leader, 20, 30, 300? Took around 30 fish on the same leader for a mate of mine to have one fail him - yep... shi t happens. Anyway, trying to explain crimping to carp anglers seems to be lie trying to teach a cat to play the piano. Thanks and good night

I've never had one fail but I got to agree it might happen one day, i how ever do exactly what you said. I blob the tag end it's just something I do on everything just to be sure. It don't take long and gives me extra security

Had no problems with crimps using 30lb amnesia and boom
Tested the Gardner trick link 0.5 as well no problems at all
Also found blobbing the tag end made no difference during testing as it's the other
End that starts to slip under load before finally giving way
I'm talking extreme pressure
Used the Korda and the crimps of eBay , both good👍🏻
Don't get me wrong I don't catch enough to use the same boom over and over again
I just change it all when I feel the hooks had enough

I've had carp to 32lb from my stretch of canal using Korda boom and a chod rig using the nash chod line and using Korda Krimps never had an incident with them at all

I am sure that most pike anglers have had a crimp give way on a wire trace at some time, and it is a worrying thought about leaving a pike to die sewn up on a deep treble.
For years sea anglers have been crimping Amnesia on hooklinks or traces, and I can personally say, sometimes it DOES give way; the lead or hook snagging up on the sea bed rubbish, rocks, coral, lost or discarded nets. One night at Shingle Street I lost three traces in three casts on what we eventually found out to be a lost trawl net.
Personally I use Amnesia for boom sections, or as part of a combi-rig, and I knot it with a Rapala loop knot or blood knot to the swivel. An overhand knot with the braid uni knotted up and through it to the supple section works for me.
Even that can give way, so check it every cast and after every fish.

I was only stating that in a carp fishing situation I've never had one go and I reuse the booms for ages without blobbing. Same as I never had a knot on any other hooklink snap. If you tie both correctly , you should never get any snapping unless your pulling for a break. Or maybe im just lucky.
Not saying its 100% snap proof , you cannot say that about anything but just giving my experience and I say you don't need to blob or shrink the crimp for carp fishing.

I want to use amnesia to make a semi stiff hooklength and finish off as a ronnie rig.
Im happy to just knot it, so what breaking strain would be most suitable.
Im thinking maybe 20lb.

I use 20lb IQ2 for this and a simple 4/5 turn blood knot (tag blobbed) has never let me down. Tighten down the tag end first, having wetted the whole knot with spit, and you wont get any pigs tails in the link

Cheers.
The amnesia is £5 for 100m and it will pull straight and is more knot friendly than most other materials.

I don't use crimps but blob the tag end on everything, it only takes a second and if it's the 0.1% that puts even one fish a decade extra on the bank, that will do for me. No mucking around when fishing waters where the number of bites a year could be counted on one hand, or two if you're lucky. Why wouldn't you do it..? 👍
