if anyones interested heres the 100T with a nash wideboy and bag. legs mostly extended. photos using
the tension strap. and also without and pegging it wider. garden is flat , maybe at that point sloping up a tad
so may make it look higher.

To me it looks ideal without the tension strap and a lot more room inside it, but others may prefer the increased height

yes. when i laid down on the bed. i did feel very exposed. but nice option on a hot day or night. no rain threatened.
to change height is just removing and replacing a couple of pegs so can be done quickly if conditions change.

Do the infills fit when its splayed out like the second photo? Whats the headroom like . .. ?
On a similar note I saw a Tempest 200 on my syndy last week . . .that could take 3x wideboys easily . . .ridiculous size shelter and a bit cheap & wobbly looking to be fair . . .doesn't look like £500 worth of bivvy IMHO

i dont have the infill, but having used them in an evo i can guarantee they wont work unless you dont want the door.
with the door shut its working like the tension strap. and wont go wider than the infill.
height is great.

Many thanks for the post. Didn't think a wide boy bedchair would fit so comfortably in a tempest brolly. Looks like there is plenty of additional space.

same shape mart so you still get V shape gap. though as the whole thing is a bit bigger i imagine
it goes back further before touching the side. when i first got it I put my stealth bed in there
and left it open in a storm. allbeit i dropped the front maybe 7 or 8 cm. when i checked the bed was dry.

So with my young lad still in pain Im not going fishing this weekend. i decided to put the Tempest back up
for the requested side shot with the Wideboy. I also used a small tarp as a groundsheet to see if that would get wet.
as I was setting it up the heavens opened. Force of habit had me setting the front lower. it is set at 130cm. I've enclosed a shot of the
tension strap to show by how much. hope these photos are of some use.
now with some at full height.
At Full height. the only difference on cover is a cm or two less overhang really.
ok.its just gone 7.20pm and it is literally lashing it down. i just scurried out to check the bed and bag
and its bone dry as is the tarp. the rain gutter is doing a better job right now than my gutters.
now if it was blowing in, with no front, then thats a problem. with the full size pio, you are so far back its never an issue. but thats a different type of longer stay shelter entirely.

Bone dry. That's encouraging. it was rough last night and my back garden is surrounded by woodland so its still
soaking wet out there.
The bivvy is a little saturated . not beading at the moment due to the atmosphere . there was a wet mark on the bed , turns out it was my footprint
from yesterday afternoon. so if any rain had got in it would still show.
ps , the bed could go further back a few inches if rain is blowing in and you don't mind touching the sides.

I have the infill, it wont work with the bivvy splayed out like the second photo, id also suggest the poles will wobble a bit unless you use the tension strap to set it out . Ive used it a few times and it really wants to stand in the position it goes into with the tension strap conected, Once pegged out and tension strap released its very solid, storm poles make it very strong also.
Edit, looking at the photos above im surprised the poles splay out like that its almost impossible to get mine that low, I will try again the next time i go out.

Well, you can't zip the door.
It's not wobbly set lower. If anything it's probably steadier.
Personally, and from watching videos you have to actually pull
It inwards to connect the strap. So it actually sits a bit lower

thanks mate, if it wasnt getting dark id be out there now, having a look as its a little bit high if i was being really fussy with the tension strap, great shelter though, very pleased with it.

i find i u peg the centre rear one down. then the two widest side ones a bit wider to your taste
then the two further back to match up it goes low and solid.and no baggy bits etc.
with using the infill, i guess it doesnt matter if its high . nothings coming in

Someone who knows if the Tempest 100T is bigger on the inside than the Quest Outer Block Bivvy (don't rely on the Dimension given on the Quest site bivvy is a lot smaller inside)

Thanks to your pictures I decided to purchase one instead of the hide xl that I was going to get. Managed to get browns last one and put it up in the garden today.

I sorted my own groundsheet. Not for cost really
But as I had successfully done it before with my pioneer.
I find these Trakker groundsheets as softnas butter on stony ground. They get holes in immediately. They are heavy
Or at least are in a large bivvy. So when I got my original Pioneer I bought a camo tarp from Ebay, cut it to size
Which meant I could have have the machined edge flat across the door. So no folding it back. Plus is much lighter
Folds much smaller. More waterproof and tougher.
For the 100T brolly. For me its a fair weather overnighter
I don't want to complicate it with lots of add ons
So I just bought a HD grey tarp from amazon 7 foot by 5 foot
Goes under the bed.

might be a tad bigger. maybe get the 9 quid one and be sure?
I just cut the corners off at the back as they kept sticking out and needed folding in. but on the pioneer, I set it up over the tarp. I folded the skirt out and went inside and drew around the base of the bivvy with a marker. perfect fit.

Hello, Looking at getting the tempest 100T andcan see a lot of people with it now and been using it. Just curious after a lot of use what you guys think the pros cons are of the 100T, would you buy it again? Cheers.

Is overnighters so I dont need mountains of space winterskins and porches etc. I have other bivvies . So I can keep it light
Quick and relatively cheap. Having rear mesh panels at that price is also a huge plus. I really dont care about them in the front of any shelter as I to open front whenever anyway. But the through draft they enable is beautiful when its warm or.muggy.
The main thing for me is how quick it is setup

I would definitely buy it again again infact if something happened to line tomorrow I'd just buy it again, I do everything from a 24hr to a full week in mine I don't need any other bivvy than this

Cheers al that really helped, got myself a 2nd hand 100T with all the accessories (both infills, ground sheet and skull cap) for £300, couldn't say no, seemed like a great deal. Oh and also 2 storm poles

100% agree with that Paul in fact on my Tempest Bivvy I got Army Andy to replace the pointless front mesh either side of the door with clear plastic panels so when it was chucking it down I will have a lot more light and I have a mozzie mesh front anyway but 90% of the time the front is off or rolled back and rear vents open

I normally spread mine without the tension strap , just peg the infill panel further out at the front , gives you more room as well. Doesn't really affect how it goes together. Great shelter. 👍

Yeh. You might find that you can't zip the door down of the infil
But I would never do that anyway. I guess if you really had to you could pull a couple of pegs out on one side and shift it a few inches

I honestly think the 100T brolly is approaching the perfect shelter. Maybe a tiny bit big, but the height is good, goes up really easy plus you have every option you could need for fronts, caps, wraps etc if you're into that sort of thing. I had the V2 brolly for years and the extra bit of height makes a big difference for a small pay off weight and pack down size.
