Anyone use this?

Having seen Matthew Collins use it, I have to say it's the most simplistic, easiest to make rig. I'm going to give it a go myself but wanted to ask if anyone has tried it and/or is using it currently? What's your thoughts?

Yep, my go to pop up rig. Dead simple and reliable. Don't bother using chod hooks for it though, it's way better with straight or Inturned eye hooks

also my go to rig. I use quite a supple coated braid and don't strip at all.

Both interesting replies. No stripping of the braid so it's very stiff. Doesn't give you much of a hinge in that case?

And no out turned eye hooks? Again, quite a contrarian approach from the norm.

I strip a tiny little break in the coating as I use Tungskin which is fairly stiff. I stumbled across using Inturned eyes by accident really, fancied giving it a go and did t have chod hooks so just tried with an Inturned eye, liked the look of it, and that night had a couple on it, with brilliant hook holds. So I've played about quite a bit with different patterns and chod hooks imo give the worst hook holds of them all(that I've used). Nash fang twisters are my number one choice for it, although as they are jow discontinued I'll have to find something else when my stash has run out. The new versions are rubbish

Fairly certain I saw a fox copy of them quite recently. Never used fox hooks so can't comment on their strength etc.

Nope, for those a simple knot less knot, no kicker or anything. As simple as it gets

I've a friend who loves his rods and reels from them, but will never use their hooks as he's told me he's lost quite a few on them. Unsure why but it's another reason I'd never buy them.

I've used the multi with a bottom balanced bait , good hook holds too, but as said below a simple hair rig is just as good.

So I tried the multi rig out yesterday on a day session. Have to say I was mightily impressed. I used both pop ups and bottom baits and caught on both. Changing hooks really simple too.

Used a Nash claw. Really like Nash hooks and tackle generally.

If they are the old ones then they are brilliant, if they are the pinpoint ones, not so much

Just tried to find out but not sure. Was the only place i found that had them in stock. Size 8's should be ok for 15mm pop-ups?

Personally I always prefer to use a bigger hook, size 6 or 4 with 15mm pop ups, but I am fishing a water that has very few under 20lb.

If you're fishing for smaller fish you may feel more confident with smaller hooks

What size would you use for UK and France? I only tend to use 8's for bottoms and wafters on the lake i currently fish as nothing really massive in there.

I'm in France at the moment using 4s and 5s, same as I use in the UK for all sizes of fish, even doubles

Size 6 Drennan continental for me, UK or France. Had loads of 40s and fish up to 55lb on this exact rig.

I would never drop down to an 8 but have occasionally used a 4.

Size 6 seems to suit the small pop ups I use.

Try a bigger hook with a small pop up mate, it looks very wrong but is seriously good for hook holds. 12mm on a size 4 in particular

Made a rig up today and the size 8 does look a bit small. Got some 4's coming tomorrow so will stick one of them on.

I guess the beauty of the multi is you don't need to retire the rig to do that as well

whats the preference for the putty, on the knot or on the hook length if you have a break in the coating ?

I always go for the knot. I think it's personal preference tbf but to me it makes sense on the knot so you have the stiffer pop up section popped up and then the softer uncoated section still on the deck. Hasnt done me no harm in the years I've been doing it

I tied a couple of multi rigs and used them for the first time at the weekend. So simple to tie, looked perfectly presented in the margin but twice reeled in to find it was tangled. Don't suppose anyone else has come across this to help us first timers on this rig?

Were you using small hook baits mate?

I found it's prone to tangling with small baits (like a lot of rigs tbh). A bit of foam on the hook helps to bulk out the hook bait i.e. gives it separation as it flies.

I use a semi-stiff coated braid with a large anti tangle sleeve. No tangles on every retrieve. 15mm pop-ups and 8 inch hooklength.

I was using a 15mm pop up, although my hook length was only about 3-4 inches. Could this be the issue? Will try with the foam or pva stick maybe. Thanks both of you for your advice

I would only use a rig 3/4 inches inside a solid PVA bag or if I was dropping a rig into rock hard gravel. For fishing situations that warrant using a multi I would always use 6/7 inches as a starting point.
